About VO2 Max Calculator

How It Works

VO2 max is estimated using field tests such as the Cooper 12-minute run or the Rockport 1-mile walk test. These tests correlate distance covered with your body's ability to consume oxygen during exercise.

How to Interpret Results

Higher VO2 max values indicate better aerobic fitness and cardiovascular health. Values vary by age, gender, and training status. Elite athletes may have VO2 max values twice that of sedentary individuals.

Health Tips

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is particularly effective for improving VO2 max. Consistent aerobic training at 65-85% of max heart rate for 30-60 minutes, 3-5 times per week produces significant gains.

Limitations

Field tests provide estimates, not precise measurements. Laboratory testing with gas analysis is the gold standard. Genetics account for up to 50% of your VO2 max potential.
