About Blood Pressure Guide
How It Works
Blood pressure is measured as systolic (pressure during heartbeats) over diastolic (pressure between beats). Normal is below 120/80 mmHg. Categories include elevated, Stage 1 hypertension, Stage 2, and hypertensive crisis.
How to Interpret Results
Your reading is categorized according to American Heart Association guidelines. Higher readings indicate increased cardiovascular strain and elevated risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney damage.
Health Tips
Maintain a healthy weight, reduce sodium intake, exercise regularly, limit alcohol, and manage stress. Monitor blood pressure at home with a validated cuff device for more representative readings.
Limitations
Single readings may not represent your typical blood pressure due to white coat effect, recent activity, or improper technique. Consistent monitoring over time provides a more accurate picture.
